Ford Shelby Brands a GT40

In honor of celebrating 85th anniversary of Ford motor company legend, Carol Shelby, which is well-known as one of the most tangible and significant auto-manufacturing in the world, today Carol Shelby has decided to unveiled it’s new Ford GT40 in honor of his 85th birthday.

Based on the Superformance, the Shelby cars are trimmed to simulate the triad of GT40s that finished 1-2-3 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. All cars are built as Mk. IIs (although Superformance does offer a Mk. I replica) and for the exterior color, it is painted or decorated with your choice blue with white stripes, black with silver stripes, or red with white stripes.

Official information and photos have been released for the new Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI quattro. 2010 Lexus LFA

Super Car:

With a fairly long and public development period, the Lexus LFA debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2009. It trailed a series of concepts released at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) which became more refined with each model. The first concept, the LF-A, was shown in 2005 and laid out the basic design which included a front/mid-mounted V10 powering the rear wheels, a carbon fiber chassis and a rear-mounted transaxle.

The entire project began in 2000 when Haruhiko Tanahashi was given the green light to design a world class supercar from the bottom up. His research would lead him to carbon-fiber reinforced plastic which makes up the bulk of the LFA. As early as 2004, prototypes internally labeled P280 began testing on the Nürburgring. More extensive testing was done in Germany in 2006 and many long-term issues were discovered at the racetrack including reliability and durability issues. Even after six years, the engineers were unhappy with their results and took the car back to Japan for modifications.

The Model S, which carries its charger onboard, can be recharged from any 120V, 240V or 480V outlet, with the latter taking only 45 minutes. By recharging their car while they stop for a meal, drivers can go from LA to New York in approximately the same time as a gasoline car. Moreover, the floor-mounted battery pack is designed to be changed out in less time than it takes to fill a gas tank, allowing for the possibility of battery-pack swap stations.

The floor-mounted powertrain also results in unparalleled cargo room and versatility, as the volume under the front hood becomes a second trunk. Combining that with a four-bar linkage hatchback rear trunk and flat folding rear seats, the Model S can accommodate a 50-inch television, mountain bike *and* surfboard simultaneously. Toyota baffled every car lover beyond belief when revealed the FT-86 G Sports Concept car on the very first day of the Tokyo Auto Salon 2010. The new concept car from the world's largest automaker has been revealed in person and virtually. The Toyota FT-86 G Sports Concept Car was introduced to the public at the Tokyo Auto Salon, and is proudly featured in the new trailer for Gran Turismo 5.

With an array of upgrades, particularly turbo charging of the Subaru-sourced 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine, the example was developed to help promote Toyota’s new G Sports styling kits, exclusive to the Japanese market. Toyota plans to use the badge in series of cars modified by motorsports firm Gazoo Racing to be released only in Japan.

Body modifications include a wider, and smoothed-out front bumper that leads to wider wheel arches. A new front spoiler can also be seen at the bottom. The car's hood, now with air vents, is made from carbon fiber.

The 2009 Chrysler Firepower is a superb sports car with a top sped of 175 mph. This car happens to be the very first model from the house of Chrysler, which is featured with the powerhouse V8 engine. On our Tuesday tour of Mediterranean area design, we move eastward from Spain to Italy where this Lamborghini Cnossus concept was born. A thesis collaboration between two Scuola Politecnica di Design students: Russian student Victor Filipchenko and Portuguese student Nelson Simoes, the Cnossus is named after a city on Crete. The designers took some inspiration from the Lamborghini Countach and made a Lambo all their own.

The limo and private car

Every business person is familiar with the Lincoln Town Car, as practically every car service uses it as its base auto. The plush leather seats, roomy trunk and interior and super-smooth ride makes it a familiar oasis for trips through traffic.

This familiarity is about to be disrupted as Ford has decided to discontinue the Lincoln Town Car and the Ford Grand Marquis, another staple in fleet sales.

The Ford Crown Victoria served as the mainstay of taxi and police fleets. Its close cousin, the Lincoln Town Car, could reliably be found idling outside Lincoln Center or waiting to whisk a Wall Street type home for the evening.

But in a little more than a year, both models will go the way of the Checker cab. Ford Motor Company plans to shutter the Canadian plant that manufactures the cars and discontinue the recognizably bulky frame that gives them their shape.

That means the end for vehicles that have come to symbolize the full spectrum of New York life, from private black sedans purring on Park Avenue to the ubiquitous sight of the yellow cab, great equalizer of the varied urban tribe.

“These cars are a facet of people’s everyday experience,” said David Yassky, the city’s taxi commissioner. “Whatever takes their place will have a real and tangible influence on the city’s aesthetic.”

Passengers should prepare for a bumpier, more cramped ride. Forget roomy trunks that fit a French-door refrigerator; the older models are yielding to smaller gas-and-electric hybrid vehicles with knee-bumping back seats and flimsier frames.

Lincoln Generation X demo

As a proud Lincoln owner, I know that they've been making great cars for years. The LS was a great vehicle, and the new MKZ is a great sedan as well. The MKS, the new flagship vehicle, is a beast that would satisfy most Lexus buyers with its styling and performance. Now they've added the new MKT crossover (pictured above) to the mix.

The marketing message is also starting to sharpen as well, as Lincoln targets buyers in their 30's and 40's - the Gen X market.

Generation X, often referred to as the “slacker generation,” has shed that stereotype and now is a coveted consumer group at the top of its earning potential, Ford Motor Co. officials say.

With pockets flush with cash, consumers born between 1965 and 1976 are the target of Ford’s Lincoln brand, which is trying to reinvent itself after years of giving ground in the profitable luxury segment.

“We have an aging owner body, and we have the ability to move it in the right direction and get younger,” Matt VanDyke-marketing communications director, tells Ward’s at a recent media event here.

“To think we could flip over and get young 20-somethings into a luxury product at this point and consider Lincoln is something that I think is too much of a stretch,” he says.

Lincoln brass spent considerable time determining the unique makeup of Gen Xers, which VanDyke defines as being in their mid-30s to mid-40s. Unlike traditional luxury buyers, these consumers don’t want to appear “ostentatious.” Rather, they are “folks that are time-starved and look at luxury as something that makes their life simple and easier.”

Volkswagen has just announced the release of a new R-Line package for the sporty CC sedan in Europe. Available with all engine types, the R-Line trim delivers an aggressive aero kit including a new front lip and side skirts with R-Line logos. Out back, the taillights also get smoked. A set of 17-inch R-Line wheels with 235/45/17 tires are included, with an option to upgrade to 18s.

Other parts of the package include R-Line kick plates, sport seats, climate control, fog lights and a leather steering wheel with redundant controls.

2010 Porsche Boxster Convertible

As expected from Porsche, the new 2010 Boxter remains mostly the same. Ten years after its first production, the classically styled Porsche Boxter is still the serious, mid-engine sports car that runs hard and fast.

With the new model, the Boxter still shares the same basic design with that of the Cayman - a 2-seat convertible. It sports a powerful 2,480 cc 2.5-liter 6 horizontal mid-engine that provides 201 HP at 6,000 rpm (150 kw) and 181 foot-pound of torque at 4,500 rpm. The car has a 58-liter fuel tank and should be filled with premium unleaded fuel. It has a multi-point injection fuel system, and fuel economy EPA highway is 8.7 per 100 km.

The 2010 Porsche Boxter comes with a price tag of $47,600 to $58,000. It's still a fantastic car, with powerful engines and amazing handling that provides a thrilling yet comfortable ride. The car is pleasing to look at, sporting a sleek and eye-catching design that will definitely attract stares. Like the previous models, the 2010 Porsche Boxter comes with the option for a standard convertible soft-top and an optional removable hardtop.

The interior of the car is luxurious, and will accommodate two people. There is enough space in the trunk to hold a reasonable amount of cargo. The model comes with leather upholstery, CDR-30 audio system, and a global audio interface that can be connected to your iPod.

Safety features of the Boxter include 4-wheel antilock disk brakes, traction control, antiskid system, side and front airbags, curtain-side airbags. Optionally, you can get a navigation system and the lovely Sport Chrono Package.

The Rebirth of Dodge Vehicles?

There are precious few companies that have touched the American psyche as Dodge has, and there may be a reason why. Dodge is known to be an automobile maker that exists at the cross-section of affordability and performance, a nexus that combines elements of the American dream and common sense. Not wanting to be confused with its American counterparts Chevy and Ford, Dodge managed to infuse this nexus with its own unique attitude, one exemplified by the early 1990s slogan taken from Thomas Paine: Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

America's unique needs and recent history have impacted Dodge very directly. The original Charger and Challenger vehicles kept the Detroit automaker busy within the industry for years. After some time, the vehicles were retired as the company went in another direction. The Dodge Magnum made its debut early on, as well, although the design was very different from both the Charger and Challenger. It, too, was retired.

The Magnum was revived from 2005 to 2008. The original Challenger and Charger were then reinvented in recent years. The rebirth of the Charger and Challenger vehicles from previous models sent a ripple of excitement through the classic muscle car enthusiast population, but the Magnum was also well known on the market as the reincarnation of the station wagon for families with children. The company's emphasis on strong motors put the vehicle back into the hands of American consumers who were lusting for powerful yet practical automobiles with extra room for the kids.

The classic colors that were popular with consumers in the 1960s and '70s have made a comeback as well. The retro look of orange, green and yellow cars have grown up a little bit over the years and are still eye-catching and reminiscent of the former car colors.

Although the reborn Charger and Challenger have retained the sporty look and powerful engines that gained them a cult following of sorts decades ago, they have targeted comfort and a smooth ride as improvements in the models. Unlike the Magnum, they largely resemble their forefathers. The new attitude station wagon has little resemblance to the coupe that helped make Richard Petty famous in the old-style B body except for its name and a comfortable back seat.

For Dodge fans, finding a used Dodge Magnum and a new or used Challenger and Charger make car shopping more of an adventure and even a bit of a history lesson.

Buick is a brand that is known for making fantastic cars … that are always geared toward the older generation versus the newer and younger generation. You cannot take even the shortest glimpse at the concept for the Mazda Furai without admitting that this car is definitely luxurious. It just screams richness with the way it looks. It is an interpretation on the Nagare design, an award winning aesthetic named after a Japanese term known to mean “the embodiment of motion,” as well as “flow.”

Both terms most definitely apply to the Furai concept. This low slung beauty looks both powerful and high class, the kind of thing you expect to see in the next James Bond film.

Even if we are in March in many parts of the globe snow is still present and makes the life hard for some drivers. We’ve waited for spring to drag a line and see which cars were the best winter cars for 2010. You’d say all of them are SUV’s? That’s what we thought too! After some wide research we found out that you don’t need to have an expensive 4×4 car to pass the winter without accidents.

Ford Flex is somehow a “weird looking” car but many fans said it couldn’t miss from this review. The hiked up ground clearance and knobby tires do not allow to shout it as a winter car but when we’ve tested it we were amazed on how good it stays on the road. This funky wagon has an amazing traction on proper roads! Good job Ford for this amazing car!

Subaru WRX comes next on #6. This rally car does not just work great on sand dunes and mountain roads, it does even better on snow! It comes with all-wheel drive and we belive that is not even possible to compare WRX with any of the other Subie`s. This mad car makes the trip unforgettable when it jumps through the frost heaps.

On #5 we have the Saab Turbo X. All the winter car features are naturally attached since these are Saabs. We don’t have more to say! It is also available in the all-wheel drives. The pretty and fun are well known from its first drive itself. The limited-run Turbo X has a terrific performance history.

On #4 we have the latest BMW 535Xi Sports Wagon! This ultimate winter driving vehicle is an incredible asset from the german manufacturer BMW. For a driver who wants a winter car to test his enthusiastic ideas, the BMW 535Xi is simply excellent. Engaging drive, excellent traction and ofcourse, the spacious cabin are its features.

For our top 3 we stood in our meeting room and argued for a while…what winter cars to chose for the first 3 positions? Well, in the end we all agreed that our #3 could come from Volvo, a brand the we don’t see too often: they don’t really do luxury cars or appear in the spotlight but when it comes to winter the latest model is definitely the Volvo XC70. This car is simply a winter champion which provides stable and confident driving for any driver, amateur or pro.

On #2 we had to pick another model from Subaru, the Subaru Outback. We found out that it was chosen a great winter car by many well experienced riders. The unfavorable weather driving confidence and larger-ground clearance make from the Subaru Outback the perfect vehicle for any type of roads and conditions. This car will leave big marks in the snow and, as a sumo wrestler, will stick to the road and move only if the driver really wants that!

New deals, mergers and joint ventures are constantly being brokered in the automotive industry. And many of them involve Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler. The ink on the German automaker's divorce from Chrysler is barely dry, and they recently penned a cooperative deal with Aston Martin. But now another could see increased cooperation between two of the world's biggest players.

The deal has been signed between Daimler chairman Dr. Dieter Zetsche and Carlos Ghosn, who presides over the Renault-Nissan Alliance, including their luxury division Infiniti. The partnership will allow both to benefit from each other's strengths in a variety of ways. Among the first will see four-cylinder Mercedes engines transplanted into the Infiniti G range. Both automakers note that, while their products compete in the same arena, customers don't typically comparison shop between these two brands specifically.
